For times like these…
Businesses go through some really tough times and no one is prepared for a pandemic. Some are ready and some make a note of it for next time. With Covid 19 spread, How are you handling your small business? You can share your struggles, confusion, please write in comments and we can talk about it.
Is it affecting your small business? It’s really hard when people are trying to stay away from the stores, markets, and crowded places.
It can affect the business in terms of lack of resources, customers, team members who are either sick or have to take care of the family(children home from school or sick).
These are some things that can weigh us down in times when WHO declares its a Pandemic.
We have listed down a few things you can do (after making sure your workplace is sanitized):-
- Talk with your team/staff what measures can be taken, what challenges will they foresee and be prepared to take the steps when needed.
- Sick leaves and family care provision. Although, it can increase your workload, devise a plan which can help out in the regular work process.
- Talk and share about your safety measures via social media to reach your customers and put their fears aside – do a Vlog, igtv, quick video to let the customers know how you are making sure of everyone’s safety.
- Let the customers know how they can reach out to you and get your products with a minimum stop at your store – (online order/telephonic order). Products can be picked up with minimal human contact or delivered at the door.
- By taking precautions and avoiding large crowds, many clients might be getting worried about their dates and plans. Contact your clients, and see what other options they would be interested in if the booking has been made, how it can be managed from your end putting your client at ease. This would create a great experience and build trust with them.
- When you are concerned about out of stock resources- See if you can find locally made resources which can be used by you in times when the Countries decide to close the border.
- Find what your government is providing to help small businesses in terms of finances and Employment insurance. Governments have been working on providing funds for small businesses.
- Join Forces, I mean to join hands with another business temporarily and benefit one another in the process. Support one another.
- Support other local small businesses.
- Stay Calm, Wash Hands & choose Namaste (like literally!!)
If you weren’t prepared this time, make a note of all the hurdles you came across and how it was handled for future reference. No experience is ever wasted. If the business is down, take time for yourself, learn something new and invest in yourself.
