What’s your Endgame?
I used to watch this TV show called Blacklist on Netflix which is a crime thriller where the protagonist Mr. Reddington, a former U.S. Navy officer turned high-profile criminal, is helping the FBI catch bad guys. Anyways, in one episode he keeps asking one of his minions how he never sees his end game before making a decision. Mr. Red is a strategist player of his empire (as I should say).
The word End Game applies to all of the business owners as well. Not in a literal sense of course, bringing an end, but to have the final vision of one project for you and to be able to position the next one. and not just stuck with a tunnel view. I am sure before you started your business you wrote down your Mission and Vision very meticulously. And you do keep that in mind while doing your business. But it’s not just this which helps in the long run, you must have 5-year plans, 10-year plans and so on. It’s very important that you have a strategy for all these terms on time and on a regular basis. Strategy planning can be very helpful. It is of the utmost importance to a business owner.
Every business has several departments (Customer service, Finance, Technical, Research & Development, HR, Marketing & Branding and Training) and strategic planning plays a significant role in each of these. The economy, the technology, and even your customers are constantly changing and with that, your product/service needs to be adapted and applied in the business.
Keeping up with the ever-changing world can be overwhelming and expensive to your business. So make wise decisions or you can hire a strategist / Business consultants can help you in planning a strategy for your business and give you an outsider’s perspective on it.
Many Business owners draft their strategic plans and then it goes on the shelf where just layers of dust settle down, well nowadays it just sits in one folder in that huge data on the company’s server. Once you have created your plan, see that it’s applicable and adaptable, make sure you make an effort to apply and then review every year to make the required changes.
